After 1 1/2 jear of absence three Dutch board members finally can visit their Kenyan colleagues in Kwale. Jan, Michiel and Ruud arrived last Tuesday to meet and connect and explore the situation in Kwale. Together with Francis Nzai they made a schedule to meet the stakeholders of the T4T projects, like the trainers, the coaches, the coachees and the head teachers of the school leaders course, the team leaders and the facilitators. Off course they first visited the principle of the TSC, Mr. Gitonga and his deputy, because they play a very important role in supporting the programs. They were very happy to meet us again and told us about the many positive stories about T4T they got from teachers. The board members also visited Mr. Bilashaka, the director of ECD in Kwale. He was very enthusiastic about the rolling out of the observation instrument which the Ward Officers developed together with Ria Peters. The workshops lead by 3 Ward Officers clarified a lot to the teachers.
The schedule contains also reviews and a next step in the school leaders course, the training coaching and a meeting in Forest Lodge with the team leaders. With the facilitators Jan and Ruud will discuss the basic competencies for becoming a workshop leader, what T4T expect to be developed in that role and what adult learning means in practice. The results of a thesis about the development of Kenyan workshop leaders, written by Loes Donders will be part of the program. They also will meet the Ward Officers to discuss the possible program of the workshops in February, when we hope Dutch teachers will also come to Kenya.
