While the Dutch teachers have their second preparation day for the workshops in Kwale next Februari, the Dutch national television company RTL4 makes recordings for an item about volunteer work. Off course they interview our chairman Jan van Aert, who is properly dressed for tv. That means no stripes on the shirt.
After the interview the camera swings to the teachers, who are sharing energizers and folow workshops about the learning pyramid, TPAD and possibillities to present active learning in an active way.
At the end of the day the teachers for primary, secundary, ECD and Special Needs seem ready to go the Kenya for a contribution to the educational development of Kwale and of themselves. Every one is very excited. They hardly can wait to meet the Kenyan facilitators on Friday 16th of February at Mwakagweni. I am sure a lot of new friends will be made.
Kenyan coachees are preparing too
Meanwhile the Kenyan coachees, who are assisting at the project Professional Friends, had a wonderful workshop day last Saturday in Gandini. They shared the plans and the progress with the eight schools involved in the project and at the same time rehearsed their coaching skills. Two Dutch teachers, accompanied by one of the coachees, will conduct a Saturday workshop with 2 teachers of each school about active learning comparing to the individual school plans. Afterwards the will visit the schools to observe the teachers in class and help to organize a staff meeting about active learning. Off course the are leading in this process.
